“Lehigh Gap Nature Center: A Conservation Success Story” — 20th Anniversary Panel Presentation
Description: Join us at the Osprey House for a panel presentation highlighting the unique and inspiring story of Lehigh Gap Nature Center — the first and only nature center on a Superfund site! This event will kick off a series of programs celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Lehigh Gap Wildlife Refuge. LGNC Board members Dr. Marilyn Jordan, Dr. Jen Lansing, Dr. Diane Husic, and Dan Kunkle, along with Executive Director, Chad Schwartz, will discuss LGNC’s role in the ecological restoration of the Lehigh Gap. Topics will include the history of the Palmerton Zinc Pile Superfund Site, the ecological restoration and management of the Kittatinny Ridge, and the ongoing impacts of LGNC’s pioneering conservation, research, and outreach efforts. Following the presentation, we will invite the audience to participate in a Q&A session.
