Green Frog (Rana clamitans)

Green Frog sound

Description: A large, common frog.  Most are green with some brown, others are much browner.  Two ridges running down the back distinguish this species from the American Bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana)

Where to look: In eastern Pennsylvania, this common frog can be found in permanent ponds just about anywhere.  Look along vegetated edges for this species.

Sound: The most common sound is a short puck. Occasionally, Green Frogs will make a longer call, a quick puck, puck, puck, puck.
