Migration Fest @ Lehigh Gap Nature Center

16th-Annual Migration Fest at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center 

We invite you to celebrate the ecology and culture of the Lehigh Gap and Kittatinny Ridge, and to experience the autumn bird and butterfly migration at Migration Fest, a FREE, family-friendly event.

Activities include:

  • Field trip to the Bake Oven Knob Hawk Watch to observe migrating birds along the Kittatinny Ridge
  • Live reptile/amphibian, macroinvertebrate, raptor, and monarch butterfly programs
  • Guided nature walks and programs on the Lehigh Gap Wildlife Refuge
  • Partner organizations providing information on the natural and cultural heritage of the Lehigh Gap and Kittatinny Ridge
  • Artisans selling and demonstrating their crafts
  • Crafts for children
  • Live music

Schedule of Events:

  • 8:30/9:00 a.m. — Hawk watching at Bake Oven Knob (meet at Osprey House at 8:30 a.m. or at the Bake Oven Knob parking lot at 9:00 a.m.)
  • 9:00 a.m. — Bird walk for beginners and families (meet on the front porch of the Osprey House; binoculars provided)
  • 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. — Insect safari and monarch butterfly tagging (meet on the front porch of the Osprey House; butterfly nets provided)
  • 1:00 p.m. — Live raptor presentation by Wildlands Conservancy (in the pavilion)
  • 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. — Family-friendly exhibits and activities at the Osprey House
    • Hawk ID and monarch butterfly information in the Great Hall
    • Crafts in the Osprey House
    • Hands-on live reptile and amphibian display on the porch
    • River Days/watershed exhibit on the porch
    • Ecology and history information/displays in the Great Hall
