Speaker Series: “The Lehigh Navigation: How a Waterway Changed America” – Martha Capwell-Fox
Martha Capwell-Fox is the Archives and Museum Coordinator for the National Canal Museum in Easton, PA. Martha will present maps and historic photos of the Lehigh Navigation that help tell the story of how the discovery of anthracite and the Lehigh Coal & Navigation Company’sefficient way of delivering it to market led to the birthof the American Industrial Revolution here in eastern Pennsylvania. She will also talk about the unique ways of life that people who worked and lived on the canal led, and the legacy of the canal today.
