A one-day Sustainable Home Landscaping Conference is planned for June 24, 2017, at Moravian College. The conference will offer information on sustainable yard practices for residents of the greater Lehigh Valley.

 

The conference will open with Jeff Barg from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. He’ll be speaking about the influence of open space on the health and well being of communities. Other talks that day will include presentations on the relationship between yard practices and water quality, homelandscape design using native plants, integrated pest management, and home garden trends (past and present). An optional tour of the Moravian College campus will feature distinctive trees as well as the campus rain garden and the Moravian Settlement display garden. 

 

            The conference cost is $25 (lunch included) and registration is online athttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/sustainablehomelandscaping-conference-tickets-32066883913. Conference partners include the Lehigh Gap Nature Center, Lehigh Valley chapters of the Penn State Master Gardeners, the county conservation districts, Wildlands Conservancy, Nurture Nature Center, several local colleges, Edge of the Woods Plant Nursery, the D&L Heritage Corridor, and others.
