Earth Day Celebration

| 7:00 am | to | 1:00 pm |
7:00 a.m. Birding with Jeff Frantz. Jeff will lead a birding outing looking for early spring migrants.
9:00 a.m. Planting session #1. A new boulder and dirt retaining wall has been installed along our newly excavated driveway. We need to add lots of plants to the soil between the boulders to create great habitat and a beautiful, unique solution to potential erosion problems. Come out and help with the planting. (See the attached photo of the wall.)
11:00 a.m. Native Plant Workshop and Sale with Sue Tantsits. Sue will discuss creating backyard habitat with native plants and will have a variety of plants for you to purchase and take along home with you. This is always a popular workshop and a treat to learn about native plant gardening.
12:30 p.m. Planting session #2. For this session we will travel to the forested deer exclosures (areas fenced to exclude deer) at the west end of the refuge to plant a variety of woodland plants. We hope to re- establish populations of some woodland wildflowers and learn more about how deer are affecting our restoration work. This session will last until mid afternoon.
